Meet the great folks at Diamonds Bluff Farm
Becky and Jimmy Maticic purchased the 100 acres that make up Diamonds Bluff Farm in 2004 so they could build their dream farm. Needless to say that's a tall order, especially when they started with a run-down dairy and crop farm. The good news is they are getting closer to their dream with each passing month.
The farm is named from a story Becky wrote in college about a girl who finds a horse in poor condition and brings her back to life. The horse goes on to win a major stakes race and is named "Diamonds Bluff". The first foal born at Diamonds Bluff Farm was named "Diamonds Bluff" and all foals since have maintained Diamond as part of their name. Look for the Diamonds Bluff Farm horses at events, dressage shows, and hunter shows.
The farm
The farm now consists of four fields fully fenced with four board fencing and rounded corners to reduce pasture injuries. Each field has a run-in shed to protect the residents from the elements and an automatic waterer that provides fresh, frost free water 365 days a year.
The original horse barn with 12 by 12 matted stalls and small indoor ring is still in use , but will be replaced soon with a brand new barn and indoor arena. A stone dust dressage ring provides all weather riding and is maintained daily. Horses are jumping in a 100 by 200 foot grass ring, but a new 100 by 200 foot outdoor jumping ring is coming soon.
The trainer
Becky has over 10 years of experience breaking babies and starting young horses. She got her start working with Katie Voss of arm working with wild thoroughbred yearlings and two year olds. Becky has a highly developed seat that is kind, yet firm when need be. She makes it a point to get to know each horse's quirks, developmental challenges, and natural abilities.
Horses at Diamonds Bluff benefit from Becky's fearless manner and natural riding ability. She has started hundreds of horses and provided advanced training to many. She often works with adolescent horses who are preparing for a competitive show career but their owner prefers that someone else give them their first season's experience.
While Diamonds Bluff is primarily a training facility for horses, there is also a small lesson program in place for dedicated riders who wish to advance their riding.
The People
As with any endeavor of this nature, it takes dedicated people to make it all work. Diamonds Bluff wishes to thank everyone who has helped make their dream a reality.
